At the last annual I was able to install a landing height system. The sensor is located in the underwing inspection panel. A wire is then strung from the sensor through the wing to connect to the power, ground and the audio in the radio. I had fuel tank maintenance done so was able to string the wire during that time. The technician put a connector where the wing detaches so that if the wing comes off for maintenance, you can disconnect the wire. Cost is about $1,000 (plus install labor). It walks you down from 200’ agl to 1’.
